In the second TV series (in colour) you'll see that Mrs Peel drives a metallic powder blue Lotus Elan, registration SJH 499D, and Steed would not have been seen dead driving a Bentley with red wheels (and certainly not a red one, either!) So neither of Corgi's Gift Set are components really very satisfactory. What I have done, therefore, is adapt the set slightly but still utilising original models. Firstly Mrs Peel gets a more accurately coloured Lotus but without the 'Tiger in my Tank' sticker on the boot lid and to which I have added the correct registration plates. Secondly the Bentley is a 9001 model in green with steel wheels with a change of hood and no RN decals of Union flag. The Bentley is in excellent condition with an original Steed character at the wheel. There is a slight fading of the red paint in some areas on the bonnet but there is no touch-in work and it is original, including the screen which often gets replaced these days. The Lotus is all original. It has a few small chips to the paintwork and the suspension is good and not broken. It has the correct number plates. Mrs Peel is a replacement character, as are the brollies, however not at all easy to distinguish. The box is one of the best reproductions I have found, using the right weight and colour of card as well as being professionally printed and folded, scored and glued. Most I see from other suppliers are too bright or just badly printed or constructed, usually both. A particularly nice example of a set for a collection and display. I specialise in The Avengers sets and material and have several alternative sets also available.
