I have the three models from this Gift Set 38 and have displayed them in a reproduction box.
The models are all original.
The Mini-Cooper has some wear to the decals and a few paint chips on the front wings. These decals are original, however, and not the replacements with the wrong style of numerals which look dreadful. The five jewels are in place and the windows are very good. the wheels, tyres and suspension are all good. A nice example of a difficult to find model.
The Rover has beautiful paintwork but some wear to the decals again. Replacements are available but do not use those with the incorrect numeral style if you do wish to change them. I prefer them as they are which look much more natural for a Rally car. The rear window is excellent - so often cracks appear where the Trans-o-lite element meets the rear screen. It has two original jewels and the windows are clean and clear. No marks to the roof. Excellent suspension and wheels and tyres.
The Citroen has its aerial, often missing now, although it has suffered somewhat and is a bit shorter than it once was. The Citroen's decals are all original and have just some minor wear. The paintwork is good with just very small marks and a more noticeable chip on the bonnet. The foglamp jewels are all in place. It has good suspension and tyres - that is important as they are very difficult to replace at the rear!
All in all this makes an attractive display at a fraction of the cost of an original box!
