These Corgi Classics were not very popular and now seem to be available at very low prices. This is an example of the model in really fine condition, with bright yellow wheels, clean black interior and bright chrome-work as well as having all four figures present.
The screen on this model is very vulnerable to damage and is missing here along with part of the horn. The radiator emblem is in place and the steering wheel is in place too. Often these parts are lost or bent.
This particular model was in a box of models found in the drawer of Percy Wilford, a senior designer at Corgi (which included the 'Available Later' 9022 model with a hood!) and appears to be in a slightly different shade of tomato red and it has quite different tyres, being soft rubber rather than the hard plastic which all the issued Classics seem to have had. I believe this is a factory sample rather than an issued item but because I cannot prove this I cannot ask much by way of additional price. This should, however, be of interest to someone at a modest price for something unusual with its history.
If there are any chips then they are tiny and this looks good but please study the photos as I have several of these and one or two have small chips on the wheel arches but I cannot recall now which is which.
