A previous owner seemed to think that it was a good idea to cover this model in varnish and then someone tried to take it off with little success. The result is a model that is very hard to find with an original aerial, (essential for anyone trying to rebuild a Monte Carlo 1965 Gift Set 38 without spending four figures on a original set) but looking sadly bedraggled.
Perhaps someone will know how to bring this one back to looking nice without removing the base and they will then have quite a valuable and sought-after item. Even as a restoration there will be a market for it as a better replacement element for the set than the Model Club re-issue.
