A very nice and completely original example of the Hillman Hunter Rally Edition.
This model was issued in 1969 but had a short life span, withdrawn in 1971. It is always blue with a white roof and a matt black bonnet. This is one of the limited range of Golden Jacks models which preceded Whizzwheels. The accurately cast wheels can be removed using the clever levers in the base. This does have the effect, though, of adding lots of friction to the wheel rotation and so it may have reduced the natural value of whizzing a toy around a layout or the carpet. Sales were modest and now these are quite sought after.
In the box came a sheet of transfers with instructions as to where they should be affixed but children rarely got that right. This example appears to have the complete set of transfers and most in the right position! There is also an original kangaroo in good condition, often missing now with this model.
The toolbox opens and closes properly and has the right elements displayed inside. The spare wheel is the correct type and has a spare tyre too. The search lights turn and the roo bar is not bent as many have become. The wheels are all in very good condition, but one of the original tyres has a split.
The paintwork is generally excellent with little or no signs of wear and no damage.
