Very late in its production, the Hillman Imp is fitted with cast wheels. These are extremely hard to find now and this example also has the 'Sunbeam' style of window featuring horizontal 'demisting' lines.
A highly unusual find, this has quite worn paintwork but the windows are all present and not broken and the rear window opens correctly and is original.
The front suspension is good but the back has suffered as is so often the case with these cars where too much pressure has been exerted to operate the seat folding mechanism (which does still function).
I have seen one example too of the 252 Rover with cast wheels and it may be the case that a few very late editions of vehicles for Gift Set 41/48 were produced along with the already available 226, 249 and 491 with cast wheels. This is a rare model and will be missing from many collections.
