I had an almost immaculate example of this model but it had two faults; the steering wheel was floating around inside and there was no star on the bonnet. As it would be difficult to see as it was I decided to repair it and took the opportunity to make a black version, which I had always thought ought to look good. And indeed it does - these cars were invariably black in real life and it just looks right, especially with the cream interior.
The steering wheel was simple to fix but the emblem was a different matter. I had some jewels spare and have put one of those in position. It is not a perfect solution but it looks better and, from a distance, the model does appear to have its emblem after all.
The chrome is lovely on this example, one of the reasons why I was keen to do something with it as many get damaged, especially along the edges. I also got to see just how the windscreen wipers work and they still do as they should. The wheels and suspension are all excellent and this would make a delightful and interesting display item.
It is a bit special and I think it is worth paying a bit more than I would ask for most rebuilt models.
