The Farming Gift Set 22 included a Series II Land Rover and a Flatbed Trailer. The Flatbed Trailer was unique to this set being all yellow, not a combination issued either as 101 in a box or in other sets. The earliest editions of the set also included a quite different colour Land Rover to the normal deep green of the 438. It was closer to the 406 model green and I call it 'Farm green'. This is only found in the early Gift Set 22. Some sources regard this as a 406S, the boxed model issued at the same time in bright yellow but as it was never issued individually in this colour whether it is a 438 or 406S is not very important.
It has the 'frame' in the rear window where the window unit fits to provide a flush rear surface at the back of the cab. Only the early Series II Land Rovers had this feature.
The Land Rover was never supplied with a canopy in these sets. This pair is, therefore, scarce and very hard to find now and a key requirement for anyone attempting to make up a set. The various animals and characters and other models can be found relatively easily but not these two.
The trailer is in good condition with fixed shaped wheels and has some paint loss on leading edges and small marks to the platform. The Land Rover has quite a lot of wear to the sides but, fortunately, this is not all evident on display in most lighting. The photos definitely show it to be worse than it really is. The suspension is sound, spare in place and hook too and the windows are clean and clear of scratches or damage.
Both items are original with no touch-ins at all.
