This model spanned several editions. Starting with normal shaped wheels and a tin hook in 1963 in deep green, then a metallic turquoise finish in 1967. It gets cast wheels and a grey plastic hook in 1968. In 1971 Whizzwheels are fitted and more changes of interior and hook type followed before an apple green replaced this as the 438 that you would get in a box. Finally, a much lighter apple green is used for this very last #438 model.
This edition has a black hook type 2 hook and type 2 interior.
This example is in excellent condition with a good original box too. The suspension is sound, good windows and wheels clean. It has a correct spare wheel on the bonnet and an original dark green plastic canopy. This has never been played with and seldom removed from its box which has some minor wear from handling over the years. There is a crack in the cellophane and one of the internal yellow folded pieces is torn and there are small signs of wear at the edges. It is nevertheless a scarce find in this very late box.
