From Gift Set 35 this is the 418 model with a driver, issued between 1964 and 1968. Early editions used the character from the Green Hornet as a driver and later editions had this Fred Housego character with a bow tie, believed to be the same as the Ford Thunderbird driver from 215S and, possibly used for Simon Templar too!
All these 418 editions were genuinely black rather than deep maroon and all had yellow interiors. As far as I can tell, all those with drivers also had free spinning wheels which would have been the norm by 1964 across the range. Normally issued 418s in boxes could have smooth or shaped fixed wheels too.
This is in excellent condition with barely a mark on the paintwork. the windows are lovely and clean and clear and the wheels bright and shiny. The base is unmarked too. I am hoping to build a Gift Set 35 but the policeman is proving hard to find. So, in the meantime, this is available if anyone needs a fine example for their collection.
