This is a rare edition of the Renault 16 with a red headboard. The normal issue was black and this is quite sought after, not often coming on to the market.
The Renault 16 was first issued in this Gift Set 13 form, missing a tailgate, in 1968. It makes use of the platform and camera and camera operator first seen with the Commer Film Services van in 1967. In the set there would be a cyclist on a racing bicycle, not present here.
This example is in very good condition. There are a few small chips to the white paintwork, the black being nice and shiny still. The transfers are all present but show a little wear. The cast wheels are good and the suspension is sound. This model always seems to be low at the back but they are all like this and there is no fault with the suspension or axle.
The camera is in place, with gold legs and contains a replacement jewel as its lens. the camera operator is original and in excellent condition. The screens are all clear and without scratches and the base is very clean and shiny.
The bonnet opens and has the original spare in place.
I am looking for a box for this model and may sell with a replacement cyclist but at the moment it is available as it stands.
