This is an example of the silver James Bond Aston Martin, an early edition with Type A wheels (that appear filled in rather than more see-through) and with a silver grille and bumpers so a Type 1 - an early one from nearer the start of its run.
It is in good condition with original paintwork and all features operate as they should. The roof also lies flat - not slightly raised as seems to be the case with so many of these models. It is totally original and not restored like many are nowadays. There are one or two small chips that have been touched-in but they do not detract from its lovely appearance.
The windows are clear and have no cracks or scratches. The rotating number plates have the original plates still fitted. The red plastic tyre slashers look crisp and clean and pull out smoothly, both complete.
The front grille and bumper is all original.
All in all this is one of the better examples I have had, and really does look good on display. Highly recommended if you need this for your collection. This edition is actually quite rare.
These Bond Aston Martins are complicated. Be careful to check what you're buying. Many are now being restored too. There are five main types that can be fairly easily identified:
Type 1: Early 1968 - mid 1969
Tyre slashers, silver bumpers, base has a circular section at the rear, grey base.
Type 2: mid 1969 - end 1975
as before but with gold bumpers.
Type 3: 1976
as Type 2 but with an oval shape on the base
Type 4: early 1977 only
Whizzwheels, grey base
Type 5: early 1977 - early 1978
Whizzwheels, silver base.
