I never really wanted either this or its open-top cousin. I’m not sure why as it is a reasonably good model of an excellent sports car. It might have been the absence of seats and a tendency to lump it in with the early racing models that, to this day at the time of writing, I still haven’t bought even for stock!
The common colour was this silver with the red top. You’ll see white with a red top too which is worth more. The yellow ones with or without red top are #304 without suspension and fixed wheels.
This I bought as #304 but discovered it had suspension! It is a different type to all other Corgis and the only one with suspension and a tin base -well, this and #303S.
The S suffix means just suspension, not seats in this instance. It appeared in 1961 and the best ones have spoked wheels if you can find any!
This example is pretty good, very solid and, although there are chunks of paint missing here and there, it really doesn’t show much at all. It is also a little more unusual, having the flat side wheels that are free-spinning. Another reason why its owner thought it was a #304, I guess!
