This is really nice example of quite a scarce issue. This Renault 16TS was one of the last Corgis issued before Whizzwheels came along and it was only produced for a year and a couple of months when it was replaced by a metallic blue version with Whizzwheels.
The beautiful maroon finish is very vulnerable to chips and the paint almost comes off if you as much as blow on it. This one has survived and is nearly mint. It has bright cast wheels (which often turn a disappointing grey on these models) and clever use of shiny metal creates a bright front end and rear bumper.
The tailgate lifts and so does the rear parcel shelf. Furthermore, small cogs on the base can lower or raise each of the front seats individually. Under the front bonnet is the engine compartment and a full spare wheel. (Incidentally, the Whizzwheels edition also keeps the same cast spare wheel!)
This is a nicely equipped and smartly produced model which will be missing from many collections.
