This is a scarce item in several ways. First the box, whilst well worn, is one of the first type used which provided for the pony to be stood between the Land Rover and trailer. Later types merely had the pony sandwiched with some folded card in the trailer and there were no holes for hooves in the tray.
Secondly, the trailer is a very rare first type with no handle on the ramp. Soon after issue the ramp was replaced by a version with a small hand at the top in the centre to make it easier to lift and open.
Both the Land Rover and Pony Trailer have correct smooth fixed wheels.
The Land Rover is in very good condition with a well-shaped beige tin canopy with minimal marks, clear undamaged windows and clean base. The Pony Trailer has a little more wear to its red paintwork but it is all entirely original and has the correct wire drawbar in place, clean wheels and original tyres.
The box is worn and aged, with some repairs and missing flaps at one end. the tray appears complete and the holes are not torn.
It is a particularly rare set in this combination.
